Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit secured a guilty plea for a residential support specialist from Pineville who hit an intellectually disabled person he was caring for with a broom multiple times in December of 2022.

Dominic Trevon Lott, of Lakeview Street in Pineville, pled guilty as charged on November 5, 2025, in front of Judge Beard in Rapides Parish to:

• Cruelty to Persons with Infirmities, as defined by La. R.S. 14:93.3 – 1 count

Lott was working at Pinecrest Supports and Services Center in Pineville, which is a residential facility that provides support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and specializes in the treatment of people with comorbid intellectual and developmental disabilities and complex medical, behavioral, and psychiatric support needs.

He was assigned as a one-on-one caregiver to a resident of the facility who suffers from Autism Spectrum Disorder, has limited verbal communication, and requires twenty-four-hour care.

On the night of December 19, 2022, into the morning of December 20, 2022, Dominic Lott repeatedly abused the victim with a mop handle. The victim’s injuries were discovered by other staff members later the same day. 

On July 16, 2024, Lott was arrested and subsequently formally charged with violating 14:93.3 Cruelty to Persons with Infirmities.

On July 28, 2025, Lott pled guilty as charged.

“We will not tolerate this kind of behavior in our nursing homes or residential facilities across Louisiana. Great work by my Medicaid Fraud Control Unit for obtaining justice for this defenseless victim,” said Attorney General Liz Murrill.

Due to this conviction, Lott is no longer eligible to serve in any capacity in Louisiana’s Medicaid Program.

On November 5, 2025, Lott was sentenced in the 9th JDC by Judge Beard to one year of prison, suspended, and placed him on one year of active supervised probation with all standard conditions, together with special conditions of no criminal conduct, no drugs or alcohol, no entry into bars or casinos, a curfew of 10PM – 6AM, a $250 fine plus court costs, a $150 PSI fee, and a $60 monthly supervision fee.
