Agents with Attorney General Liz Murrill's Louisiana Bureau of Investigation arrested a teacher and coach at a New Orleans School for Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material.

49-year-old Benoit G. Cransac, of Cohn Street in New Orleans, was arrested today by LBI agents on campus at Isidore Newman School on Broadway Street. He is a French national with legal residence in the United States.

Cransac was arrested for 22 counts of Child Sexual Abuse Material.

Agents initially got a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. 

Images suspected to be child sexual abuse material were uploaded to an online account. After agents reviewed the images, they confirmed they were in fact child sexual abuse material.

As our LBI agents obtained search warrant returns for accounts and found out who the account holder was, we determined he was a teacher at the school. As soon as enough probable cause was obtained, we drafted an arrest warrant and took him into custody at the school today. 

This arrest was a result of a joint investigation with the Louisiana Bureau of Investigations Cyber Crimes Unit, the New Orleans Police Department, the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Kenner Police Department, and Homeland Security Investigations.

"If you possess child sexual abuse material, you will be arrested and prosecuted. While this is still an ongoing investigation, anyone with potential information should contact my office at 225-326-6100. I'd also like to thank NOPD, the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office, Kenner Police, and Homeland Security Investigations for their assistance on this case," said Attorney General Murrill.

Benoit Cransac was booked into the New Orleans Central Lock-up.

His bond has not been set yet, as he has not appeared in front of a judge.
