Attorney General Liz Murrill announces Orleans Metro ICAC Task Force to combat child exploitation in the area

Today, Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill was proud to stand alongside leaders from various law enforcement organizations in the Greater New Orleans area to announce the creation of the Orleans Metro ICAC Task Force.

This Task Force will be housed at the Kenner Police Department. Members of the Task Force will be equipped with the latest technology to collaboratively address the rising numbers of tips related to child exploitation in the area.

Members of the Orleans Metro ICAC Task Force include the Kenner Police Department, St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police, the New Orleans Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Gretna Police Department.

Members of this task force will conduct both proactive and reactive investigations to target and arrest individuals seeking to harm Louisiana’s children.

When Attorney General Liz Murrill took office in January 2024, there were only 7 partner agencies across the state as part of the Louisiana ICAC Task Force, which is led by the Louisiana Department of Justice. Today, we have over 70 partner agencies on the Task Force, which now receive training equipment and leads in their jurisdictions related to the exploitation of children in Louisiana.

In 2025, the Louisiana ICAC Task Force received over 31,000 Cybertips, they’ve made over 515 arrests, more than 80 new child victims have been identified, and more than 60 child victims have been rescued from ongoing sexual abuse. Due to the more than 9000 Cybertips our office received in January 2026 alone, we are currently on pace to receive potentially over 90,000 Cybertips in the State of Louisiana.

“I’m so proud to announce this new endeavor which will lead to larger numbers of arrests, prosecutions, and victim-assistance in the Greater New Orleans area. It is my highest priority to protect the children of Louisiana, and we will leave no stone unturned in doing just that. This partnership just highlights the accomplishments and effectiveness when law enforcement works together for the people they serve. Let this announcement serve as a warning to those intent upon harming our children in the Greater New Orleans area – that you will be brought to justice and prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” said Attorney General Liz Murrill.

“Everyone up here agrees that children are our most precious and valuable asset- they are our future, and they are very vulnerable. The internet knows no boundaries, and neither do we. Through several platforms - from social media to gaming, predators now enter children’s bedrooms without notice - we must do everything we can to stop these crimes. I applaud General Murrill and am proud to offer our resources to combat this evil,” said Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley.

This task force became operational at the beginning of the year, and you should expect to see numerous arrests in the next several weeks.
