AG Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Arrests Florida Man on Child Sexual Abuse Material Charges Stemming from Jefferson Parish

Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Florida man on child sexual abuse material charges stemming from Jefferson Parish.

Special Agents with the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation (LBI) received multiple Cybertips from NCMEC indicating 58-year-old Sean Patrick Coats, of Waterloo Avenue in Cocoa, Florida, uploaded child sexual abuse material while in Marrero, Louisiana (Jefferson Parish).

Special Agents ultimately obtained an arrest warrant for Coats. On April 15, 2026, Coats was located in Brevard County, Florida, placed under arrest, and booked into the Brevard County Jail pending extradition to Jefferson Parish. 

He is being charged with:

  • 8 Counts - RS 14:81.1 Child Sexual Abuse Material (under the age of 13 years old) 

In addition to LBI's Child Exploitation and Cyber Crime Unit and Fugitive Apprehension Unit, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office assisted us on this case.

The investigation is ongoing.
